Definition


In English, conditional sentence means conditional sentence. This sentence can be used to express cause and effect, the possibility of something happening, or express a presumption of things that are actually impossible to happen.

 

There are 4 types of conditional sentences, each of which uses a different form of tenses. All conditional sentences consist of an if clause and a main clause.


 

Types, Formulas And Examples Of Conditional Sentence


Zero Conditional:

If + Present Simple Tense + Present Simple Tense

For Example: If it rains, the streets get wet.

 

First Conditional:

If + Present Simple Tense + Future Simple Tense

For Example: If he studies hard, he will pass the exam.

 

Second Conditional:

If + Past Simple Tense + Would + Base Verb

For Example: If I had more time, I would travel more.

 

Third Conditional:

If + Past Perfect Tense + Would have + Past Participle

For Example: If he had studied harder, he would have passed the exam.
