Obligation

Obligation is an expression to express necessity or obligation.

To create an obligation sentence can use the following:

 1. Must, is a must made by someone who comes from himself. So, it is used to express something special.

Sentence Patterns: Subject + must + V1

For Example:

  • I must keep this important secret.
  • I must study hard.

 

2. Have to/has to, is a rule or necessity that does not come from the speaker. So have to/has to is used to express a general imperative.

Sentence Patters: Subject + have to/has to + V1

For Example:

  • You have to pay school fee.
  • She has to wear uniform to school.

Have to used for the subject: They, we, I, you

Has to used for the subject: He, she, it

 

Prohibition

Prohibition it is a warning or a warning to others not to do anything.

Prohibition forms of sentences are divided into:

 1. Verbal Prohibition: In the sentence always use the verb (verb) that is V1.

Sentence Patters: Don't + V1

For example:

  • Don't go anywhere! 
  • Don't speak!

 

2. Nominal Prohibition: In this sentence is added Adjective (adjective), Adverb (adverb), Noun (noun).

Sentence Patters: Don't + be + Adjective/Adverb/Noun

For Example:

  • Don't be crazy! 
  • Don't be there!

 

3. Prohibition No + Verb-ingThe use of No in this sentence means the same as Don't, that is, do not or prohibited. The difference after No added V-ing.

For Example:

  • No parking!
  • No smoking!

 

Suggestion

Suggestion it means suggestion. To make a suggestion sentence, use the modal "should" which means should or should.

Sentence Patters: Subject + should + Verb 1

For Example:

  • You should stay at home to keep your health.
  • You should see the doctor to get well soon.

Sentence Patters: Subject + should + be + Adjective/Noun/Verb

For Example:

  • You should be calm in the library.
  • You should be angry with her.
