ACTIVE AND PASSIVE TENSE
Definition
Active
Sentence
Active
sentences are those in which the subject performs the action described by the
verb. The subject is before the verb, and the object (if any) is after the
verb.
Passive
Sentence
Passive
sentences are those in which the subject does not perform the action described
by the verb, but rather receives the action. The object of the active voice
becomes the subject of the corresponding passive voice, and the subject of the
active voice becomes the object of the corresponding passive voice. The verb is
transformed into the form "to be" plus the past participle of the
original verb.
